The carbine's serial number is 1778234. The barrel is from Rock Ola. The bore and chamber are in very fine condition. Saginaw Gear in Grand Rapids. MI took over production of Irwin Pedersen Company when the firm could not meet government standards for production. The Saginaw Gear Plant used what I.P. parts that were usable to produce guns. The other parts needed to complete guns were produced by other contractors. These IRWIN PEDERSEN Carbines are very rare as very few were assembled from parts on hand. Like many M1 Carbine, this rifle has undergone a post war rebuild, likely at the Anniston Alabama Arsenal, judging from the "AAA" stamped on pistol grip of stock. Replacement parts from rebuild include bayonet lug, barrel band, magazine release & stock. Stock marked "NPM" National Postal Meter. Here is a M1 Carbine in the very rare Irwin Pedersen production for the serious military collector!
